Customised Off-The-Shelf (COTS) - Modifications To Existing Products

Our consultants can usually customise those products that will support modification - such as open source tools or those with more sophisticated scripting APIs. The help we can offer covers three major elements:

1. Functional Specification

Via meetings with key stakeholders and end-user focus groups, Daydream consultants will identify features or modifications required to ensure the best return-on-investment for your business. These findings are formalised into a functional specification.

2. Technical Consulting

Following functional specification, Daydream analyst developers can design or amend system components, features, permissions and metadata categories to suit both your business and IT environments. Where the ISV's own development team is available, we can help to clarify the functional requirements for them and intermediate between a higher level business objective and a technical or database-level description.

3. Systems Integration

Often digital asset management systems are required to integrate with existing business systems, to share data and eliminate system duplication costs. For example, digital asset management systems may be required to integrate with LDAP servers to facilitate Single Sign-On (SSO). Troubleshooting DAM Implementations

For one reason or another, some Digital Asset Management implementations fail at the delivery stage. The reasons why are numerous. If you have a DAM solution that is not delivering the required business benefits, we can step in and give you an impartial assessment as to what has gone wrong and how to fix it. We can usually derive an action plan with a very short analysis period. This contains a checklist of points for you, the vendor or another delivery partner of your choice that will enable you to get the solution back on track.

Even with careful consideration for consistent and intuitive interfaces, more complex tasks require powerful features with advanced user controls. Without some ongoing instruction, these features will be misunderstood and under-utilised, resulting in user dissatisfaction and a lower overall return-on-investment.

Ongoing training can increase overall user expertise and ensure that, as staff join and leave your organisation, this knowledgebase is well maintained and does not erode. Deliverable online or in workshops, Daydream will design courses which will cover the system and any enhancements or extensions made throughout its lifecycle.
