FocusOPEN in conjunction with video and audio add-ons, enables these
to be digitised, stored and made accessible. Encoded video or audio
can be stored with the original metadata in modern formats such as
MXF, which are designed to allow both media and metadata to be held
in a single container file.
Leverage timeline metadata
Video and audio add-ons allow you to markup sections
of your media’s timeline and associate metadata with each individual
segement. Users can make notes about specific sections of footage
and share these with colleagues. Using sub-titles, transcripts or
advanced speech recognition technology, a video or audio clip can
be indexed like a document - saving users many hours of time when
searching. Documents, images, presentations, video, web pages – or
any other kind of media - can be cross referenced at different points
within the footage to allow users to quickly locate related assets.
Time-based links can work both in directions, so users can access
specific sections of a video, without needing view the entire clip.
Broadcast Video & Audio To Many Devices
For demanding media-rich advertising, broadcasts
or presentations, video and audio add-ons include a true media streaming
server that will allow audiovisual media to be sent to web browsers,
mobile phones or similiar multimedia enabled devices. The streaming
server allows advanced operations like live video editing and DVD
style non-linear playback or micro navigation.
Online web editing, streaming,
versatile logging and documentation features offer a level of control
not previously possibly via a web-based Media Asset Management system.
True Web-Based Editing
Video and audio add-ons provide all authorised
FocusOPEN users with their own web-based, non-linear audiovisual editing
suite, with a visual timeline and graphical controls. This is a fully
featured editing facility that offers an amazing array of features
and flexibility.
Controls offered include: scrubbing, play/pause,
step forward/backward, slow motion, fast forward, rewind, mark in/out/cue
point, integrated effects, EDLs (Edit Decision Lists), SMPTE display
and full-screen preview. Once users have created an edit, they can
send it to a colleague for review or amendment. The final edit can
be rendered and transcoded into any of the supported formats so it
can be used with other applications.
Comprehensive Transcoding
Video and audio add-ons allow for live or queued
transcoding (conversion) of video or audio footage. The flexible media
processing server architecture of FocusOPEN allows support for new
formats not currently available to be quickly added via upgrades provided
as standard with our support packages.

Asset Linking & Micro Navigation
The video and audio add-on's cue point architecture
enables sophisticated timeline metadata to be stored either alongside
assets (or inside them using AAF or MXF containers). This allows bi-directional
links between different assets to be set up so that associated documents,
images, audio, video or any other kind of asset stored in FocusOPEN
can be presented to the user at various sections of the media. As
well as asset links, users can setup their own micro navigation features
(similar to DVD-style 'chapters').
Advanced Logging and Documentation
The logging and documentation tools included in
video and audio add-ons support a wide range of common asset cataloguing
and editorial requirements. Cue point features allow transcription
notes to be added to individual sections and integrated with FocusOPEN's
own search facilities, so users can issue a search and directly access
a section of footage that contains the terms they are looking for.
The transcription notes can be cross-referenced with foreign language
editions of footage to save time when editors need to review multiple
versions of the same material. All logging and documentation tasks
can be integrated with the FocusOPEN workflow
add-on to coordinate large scale video or audio cataloguing projects.
Audio & Video Streaming
Video and audio add-ons include a streaming server
that will deliver web or mobile ready video content in Flash Video
or 3GP format (for mobile devices). This is tightly integrated into
the FocusOPEN digital asset management application and supports both
progressive download and genuine media streaming.
Video and audio add-ons are hosted and supported alongside an implementation of FocusOPEN. In common with all out other systems, it is web enabled, does not require custom browser plug-ins and is offered with 24/7 support.
