Our user-friendly system requires no training and is free from per-seat/per user licensing, all of which better guarantee significant savings in your overall expenditure. Note: The Video Open Studio is a FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager platform component and cannot be sold separately.

Key Features

Supports Many Audiovisual Formats, Including DVD and MXF files

The Video Open Studio supports and distributes wide range of video and audio formats, including: QuickTime (MOV), Windows Media (WMV), Flash Video (FLV), MPEG (1,2 & 4), JPEG2000, DIV/X, AVI, AAF, ASF, MP3, WAV, AAC and OGG/Vorbis. Distribute 'ready-to-burn' downloads to users with advanced upload features designed to support the delivery of DVD/VOB and MXF video files

Extensive Video Processing

Generate stills, storyboards, thumbnails and high-quality, fast-loading, full-length previews from original video files - either on ingestion or on demand (can be displayed with or without copy-protective watermarks).

Advanced Playback Controls

Provide far greater control over video playback on the web with advanced features including: scrubbing, play/pause, step forward/backward, slow motion, forward to end, rewind to start, mark in/out (cue) points, SMPTE timecode display, full-screen and preview playback modes.

Editing (With Cue-Point Logging)

Enable users to mark in/out (or cue) points along a video or audio timeline, add comments and share these with other library users, or download their edited versions in a wide range of video and audio formats.

Timeline Cataloguing (Metadata)

Leverage audiovisual assets with timeline metadata, an advanced cataloguing feature that enables administrators to apply metadata not only to the file, but to specific frames or sequences within a video or audio timeline. The detailed micro-navigation this provides enables users to quickly locate relevant chapters in a file and can be indexed to provide users with immediate access to specific sequences from their search results, saving them many hours of trawling through footage.

Extensive Audiovisual Transcoding (Encoding)

Enable live or queued transcoding (conversion) of video or audio footage. A flexible server architecture allows new formats to be quickly added as released.

Container Formats

3GPP, 3G2, ASF, AVI, GXF, HDV, LXF, MPEG-2 PS, MPEG-2 TS, MXF, QuickTime, VOB, WAV, Broadcast WAV, WMA, WMV

Video Codecs

DivX, DPS, DV25, DV50, DVCPro, Flash, H.263, H.264, JPEG2000, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, VC-1, Windows Media, Real Video

Audio Codecs

AAC audio, AIF/AIFF, AMC, AMR-NB, AU, DTS, MP3, OGG, PCM, Real Audio, WM Audio

Linked Media (Asset Cross-Referencing)

FocusOPEN's polyhierarchical metadata model enables assets in other formats to be associated with a video or audio file, or correlated to specific frames or sequences on its timeline. As such, related project files, like transcripts, treatments, storyboards or cast photos can be stored and retrieved alongside the original audiovisual file.

Who Is This Useful For?

The Video Open Studio can be used by various organisations including:

Public Sector Audiovisual Archives

Public sector archives use the Video Open Studio to improve the depth of logging and documentation for time-based assets like film or audio. Formerly complex, time-consuming tasks such as transcription or timecode cross-referencing with other artefacts can be achieved quickly and easily using cue point and linked media features.

Corporate Audiovisual Libraries

Corporate audiovisual libraries use the Video Open Studio to gain greater control over their operational and corporate videos such as cultural archives, training videos and CSR footage. The metadata, logging and documentation features allow more in-depth cataloguing details to be stored, while the advanced transcoding enables videos to be used by employees in a format fit for their purpose.
